Food Network star chef Anne Burrell, who died on Tuesday, was allegedly found unresponsive at her New York home alongside dozens of pills.
It was reported that Burrell’s husband discovered her unconscious in the shower and immediately called for emergency assistance. According to an unnamed source cited by the New York Post, Burrell had performed at an improv show in Brooklyn the night before her passing and appeared to be in high spirits.
The New York Fire Department stated that Burrell experienced cardiac arrest. However, sources mentioned by the New York Post advised against speculating whether the pills found near her had any role in the incident. Additionally, these sources indicated that foul play is unlikely.
Sources told TMZ that a 911 dispatcher advised Burrell’s husband to perform CPR even though he mentioned her body was cold.
Burrell was known for her role as the host of Food Network’s “Worst Cooks in America” and for her appearance on “Iron Chef America,” which marked her television debut. She was 55 years old at the time of her passing.
