Two men charged with murder after Carl Dixon stabbed at Barnsley house

Two men have been charged with murder after a man was stabbed at a Barnsley house.

Carl Dixon, 35, was pronounced dead after police were called to the property in George Street Worsborough at around 11.19pm on Tuesday, September 5. His family have previously said they are “devastated” at news of his death.

South Yorkshire Police say they have now charged Daniel Cheetham, 25, of Underwood Avenue, Worsborough, and Liam Shaw, 24, of no fixed abode, with murder. They have been remanded into custody and are due to appear at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Three other people were arrested by officers investigating Carl’s death. A 44-year-old man has been bailed pending further enquiries and a 45-year-old woman and a 40-year-old man have been released with no further action.

In a statement released earlier this week, Carl’s family paid tribute to him, saying: “As a family, we are devastated at the loss of Carl. He was loved more than he will ever know, and was a great brother and uncle.

“We kindly ask for our privacy to be respected at this time, as we process this tragic loss of life. It is our hope that justice is secured for him.”
