A body was reportedly found on Wednesday during a search for a 2-year-old boy who disappeared a month earlier.
Montrell Williams went missing on May 10 while he was on a custodial visit with his father, who informed the boy’s mother that he had thrown their son into the Bronx River. According to sources from the New York Daily News, a body was found in water at Ferry Point Park, located approximately two miles away from where the Bronx River meets the East River.
On Monday, Williams’ father was ordered to remain jailed after he refused to tell the courts where his son is.
Reports indicated that surveillance footage captured the father and son walking alongside the Bronx River on May 10. Additionally, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch mentioned that an individual was observed throwing a package from a bridge into the river.
WNBC stated that Williams’ father disappeared with his son during a gathering of family members on May 10. The boy’s mother promptly contacted the police regarding her son. However, sources mentioned that initially, law enforcement officers categorized the incident as domestic, which resulted in the missing person case not being forwarded to detectives.
Williams’ father and paternal grandmother reportedly also argued the day the boy disappeared. The grandmother went to the police a day later.
Sources told WNBC that Williams’ mother and other family members repeatedly called the police again after the father failed to return the child in accordance with their custody agreement.
Williams’ mother spotted her son’s father on the street in Manhattan on Saturday and confronted him about their son. The father was arrested after he allegedly pulled a knife on her, leading her to call the cops. Sources claimed it was during that incident when Williams’ father said he threw their son in the river.
Williams’ father has not been charged in connection with his son’s disappearance or presumed death.
