The woman whose body was found in a wooded area in Northwest Bexar County has been identified as 28-year-old Mariadelis Labrador Siles by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office in San Antonio.
According to previous reports from CrimeOnline, Siles’ boyfriend mentioned that he thought she might have gone to Wildhorse Sports Park after leaving their home in NW San Antonio on Monday.
Authorities discovered the body near Braun Road on Wednesday, with signs of trauma present, as mentioned by Sheriff Javier Salazar. Later that same day, police confirmed the identity of the body as Siles, as reported by KSAT.
“We don’t have any indicators that the body was dragged here. What we have is that the person died here on scene,” Salazar said.
On Thursday, investigators with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office reported finding a machete and a shovel near the location where Siles’ body was discovered.
The sheriff’s office collected the items but said they currently aren’t sure if the items are connected to the case.
The medical examkner’s office said Siles died from a stab wound to her chest.
Siles’ family, who live in Pinar Del Rio, Cuba, pleaded for help earlier this week, prior to police finding the body.
“To the entire community of San Antonio, please help us with any information so they can find her and bring her home. She’s the sweetest girl in the world for something to have happened to her,” her father on social media on Wednesday. “
“Secondly, I ask all Catholics and Christians to light a candle to help us and [for] God [to] bring her home to our family.”
According to the San Antonio Report, Sules’ boyfriend, who sponsored her move to the U.S., has been cooperative with investigators.
No arrests have been made in the case and he’s unclear whether Siles was killed or died from a self-inflicted wound:
it’s just as likely at this point that someone else is responsible for this,” Salazar added.
