A multi-agency task force has been established in an effort to apprehend the suspect responsible for a 14-year-old Indigenous girl’s murder.
In February 2025, the Gila County Sheriff’s Office in Arizona found the dismembered body Emily Pike, a San Carlos Apache teen.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Pike was last seen near her group home at Mesa Drive and McKellips Road in Mesa in late January. Despite the distance, her body was found in a forest area near Globe, almost 100 miles away from where she was last seen.
The cause and manner of Pike’s death have not been determined by the Pinal County Medical Examiner’s Office, responsible for investigating deaths in Gila County, as of Monday. However, information about Pike’s death was disclosed to the public following the leak of details last month through a memo from Gila County police and on social media. According to the memo, Pike’s head and torso were discovered in bags, while her arms and hands are still missing.
According to Azcentral, the task force established to investigate Pike’s death comprises multiple agencies including the sheriff’s office, the San Carlos Apache Police Department, the Mesa Police Department, the FBI, and the Bureau of Indian Affairs, as announced on Monday by the sheriff’s office.
The task force formed shortly after the San Carlos Apache Tribe offered a $75,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in Emily’s case.
