Police in California are currently looking into a potential case of road rage that unfolded when a man reportedly stabbed another driver in self-defense. The incident took place in the parking lot of a well-known coffee chain over the weekend.
The troubling event happened around 4 p.m. on Sunday at a Starbucks branch on East Alessandro Boulevard in Riverside, which is situated around 55 miles away from Los Angeles.
According to authorities from the Riverside Police department, the altercation started when the victim accidentally cut off the other driver. This led to the aggressor tailing the victim to the Starbucks drive-through where the confrontation escalated.

Both men were transported to a local hospital and are expected to recover from their injuries.Â
Since the suspect required surgery, he has not been arrested and the investigation remains ongoing, according to a statement from Riverside Police to Fox News Digital.Â
