MAUREEN CALLAHAN: After New Orleans terror and Las Vegas, it's hideously clear dotard Biden has let an evil cancer thrive in America. There's only one way to cut it out

Terrorism is alive and thriving on American soil.

The Biden administration, and the radical left, have the blood of American citizens on their hands.

Make no mistake: The dual, horrific New Year’s attacks — in New Orleans and Las Vegas — are the direct result of anti-Americanism espoused by progressives, embraced on Ivy League campuses, and enshrined as proof of a virtuous mind.

These attacks also bear all the hallmarks of Islamic extremism — not that you’ll hear our leaders say it. In Joe Biden’s America, feelings come first. Can’t risk offending anyone, even a cohort that seeks death to the West.

Ever on-brand, our utterly incompetent, disgraceful president hasn’t treated these two heinous attacks with proper urgency or gravity.

Instead of heading right back to the White House for a briefing in the Situation Room, dotard Biden stayed at Camp David. God forbid his latest holiday should be ruined.

He waited until Wednesday night to address the nation, and it seems he didn’t get his afternoon nap in. Biden slurred, lost his way while speaking, and seemed barely able to keep his eyes open.

He spoke not of vengeance or American military might but of platitudinous ‘grieving’ and ‘healing’ — the usual preoccupations of our grief-obsessed and narcissistic president. It’s his kink, really.

We are all white-knuckling through the last two weeks of this.

As to motive: The FBI is still investigating whether the carnage in New Orleans — a truck-driving attacker mowing down crowds in the early hours of New Year’s Day — is in any way connected to the Las Vegas car bombing outside the Trump hotel and casino just hours later.

Both assailants served in the US Army, on the same base, and used the same car-rental platform to carry out their attacks.

Even if no link is discovered, the similarities are striking. New Orleans and Las Vegas are two American cities known for one thing: hedonism. These are places of celebration, sex, booze, abandon — everything that anti-Western fundamentalism hates and seeks to punish, destroy, obliterate.

Both attackers struck on New Year’s Day, a time of optimism, forward momentum and modernity.

The New Orleans attacker, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, has been identified by a family member as a ‘radicalized Muslim’. Islamic fundamentalists, we know, yearn for the simpler times of, say, 900 B.C.

That Jabbar was born and raised in Texas should be even more alarming — proof that this murderous ideology can seduce free, first-world minds.

An ISIS flag was found in Jabbar’s truck, and potential improvised explosive devices — a favorite weapon of jihadis — were reportedly found planted in locations around the city’s French Quarter. Jabbar also reportedly posted videos online in which he credited ISIS as his inspiration.

Survivor Jimmy Cothran spoke to NBC News.

‘One man, deceased, had tire tracks across his back, and when someone turned him over, he had tire tracks across his stomach and was clearly crushed,’ Cothran said. ‘A little girl that we had seen dancing as we were walking up the street was as flat as a pillow’.

At least fourteen people were killed and dozens more injured.

Notably, Jabbar’s attack mirrors the one in Germany, two weeks ago, in which at least five were killed — including a 9-year-old — and hundreds injured when a car, driven by a Saudi-born doctor, plowed into shoppers at a Christmas market.

Christmas. Middle-Eastern male. A common jihadi terror tactic deployed. Yet even German officials are shying away from this potential motive.

Western democracies can no longer afford such politesse.

We should have been on high alert after the attack in Germany. But in Biden’s America, laxity prevails. Just look at our wide-open borders.

Vegas bomber Alan Livelsberger left unmistakable anti-American clues: The Elon Musk-made Cybertruck he used, the Trump hotel — none too subtle.

Livelsberger shot himself in the head before the Cybertruck exploded. It seems meant to evoke a suicide bombing — a tactic adopted by Hezbollah in Beirut in 1983 — one that has come to signify Islamic terrorism.

President-elect Trump gets it.

‘Pure evil,’ he said.

Republican leaders echoed his muscular language. House Speaker Mike Johnson used the same phrase, while Louisiana Senator Bill Cassidy out-and-out called both attackers ‘terrorists’ — that key word so many Democrats won’t use — and said, ‘we’ve got to find out their supporting network’.

Yes, yes and yes.

How a middle-aged, unemployed man like Jabbar was able to buy or obtain bomb-making materials — and not be flagged by Homeland Security or the FBI or any other agency — is a major failure of this administration.

As is the left’s stubborn insistence on equating the good guys with the bad, of constantly apologizing for America, for shaming this great nation as the worst example of racism and colonialism.

Once again, to anyone still wondering why Trump won: This is why.

A warped, deeply distorted worldview advanced by President Biden, his shadow government, and lunatics such as Rep. Ilhan Omar — who once equated the United States and Israel to the Taliban — has been roundly rejected by the American electorate.

Hours after this week’s wholly preventable acts, hundreds of protesters gathered in Times Square, chanting, ‘Intifada revolution’ and ‘Gaza you make us proud’.

Biden, the progressive left, the liberal media and the Ivy leagues are responsible for incubating, fertilizing and fomenting these anti-democratic, anti-Western ideals in modern-day America. For making such moral obscenities feel, to a younger generation especially, chic.

This is a malignant, fast-growing cancer in the American body politic, and Trump’s top priority must be cutting it out and killing it.

As former defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld famously said, ‘weakness is provocative’. And weakness, thanks to our enfeebled president, is the only thing America currently projects to the world.

Russia invades Ukraine. Hamas attacks Israel and still holds hostages — while Biden says that anti-Israel agitators ‘have a point’ while tying Netanyahu’s hands behind his back.

Iran is well-funded, thanks to us. China is an immediate threat. Syria is on the verge of becoming an Islamic caliphate. The Taliban in Afghanistan has banned women from speaking in public.

The world is a much more dangerous place, and America is still far too vulnerable thanks to Joe Biden and his legion of enablers.

Compare Biden’s sad, weak speech after these horrific attacks — ‘Our nation grieves with you. We are going to stand with you as you mourn and you heal’ — to his rhetoric about Trump and his supporters in 2023:

‘Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our republic… MAGA forces are determined to take this country backwards.’

Wrong enemy, Joe.

He’s also said the Number One terrorist threat to America isn’t Islamic terrorism but ‘white supremacy’.

It would be laughable if it weren’t so predictable, so reflexively dumb, so existentially dangerous.

No: The greatest threat to our homeland is a cognitively impaired president who, literally and metaphorically, falls down on the job.

In a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Biden had the callousness to make multiple jokes while addressing these attacks again.

‘I’m sure you’re clapping because I finally showed up,’ he said, as an adoring White House press pool laughed along.

That’s our media, still enamored with Joe Biden.

Inauguration Day can’t come soon enough.
