Alan Cumming, who has previously won an Emmy Award, is making a return to the show. This time, he will be portraying a character named Mr. Ring-a-Ding, described as a cheerful, humorous cartoon residing in Sunny Town alongside his companion Sunshine Sally.
As the story unfolds, Mr. Ring-a-Ding encounters a challenging situation where, in the year 1952, he shifts his focus from the silver screen after numerous reruns in theaters nationwide. His gaze lands on the real world outside, leading to some frightening consequences.
Cumming will guest star as Mr Ring-a-Ding in the second episode of the season.
The actor previously appeared in the 2018 “Doctor Who” episode “The Witchfinders” as King James I.
“Only Alan Cumming could give a runaway cartoon so much wit, malice, danger and fun. He makes the whole universe of ‘Doctor Who’ wilder and madder than ever, and it’s an absolute honour to welcome him on board the TARDIS,” said showrunner, executive producer and writer Russell T Davies.
