Police in New York state received an unusual call and ended up having to wrangle an alpaca that was on the loose.
Westchester County Police revealed that they were informed about a llama running loose on Kisco Avenue on Thursday morning. However, upon closer inspection, it was determined that the animal in question was actually an alpaca.
“We receive a variety of unique 911 calls, including this one that was reported to us at 10:09 a.m. today,” the police department shared on social media. “It was later confirmed to be an alpaca that had escaped, but the initial description provided was relatively accurate compared to some of the other calls we receive.”

Alpacas are herd animals indigenous to the Andes Mounts in South America. They are often used at petting zoos and children’s parties.
Despite being closely related to the llama, the smaller alpacas are a different species in the camel family.
