President Trump signed an emergency executive order after anti-ICE protests in Los Angeles turned into riots and local law enforcement failed to restore order. The order directed the state National Guard to take control of the affected areas, addressing the escalating situation.
WH Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt released a statement, announcing the president’s action:
In the wake of this violence, California’s feckless Democrat leaders have completely abdicated their responsibility to protect their citizens.Â
In response to the lawlessness, President Trump issued a Presidential Memorandum deploying 2,000 National Guardsmen to quell the unrest. The Trump Administration maintains a zero tolerance policy towards criminal behavior and violence, particularly when directed towards law enforcement officers carrying out their duties. Those responsible for criminal acts will be apprehended and swiftly brought to justice as the Commander-in-Chief ensures the full enforcement of U.S. laws.
The vice president also reacted to the EO on Saturday through his X account.
