Ralph Fiennes spurred widespread fan reaction on social media after recreating a viral 2024 meme on New Year’s Eve.
During a live interview on New Year’s Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, he provoked laughter by suddenly launching into his ‘Recitations by Ralph’ routine.
The 62-year-old actor performed the ‘very demure, very mindful’ monologue, originally created by TikTok content creator Jools Lebron, which had gone viral on social media in the previous year.
‘Well, look, this is how I do my makeup for work — very demure, very mindful,’ he recited during the live taping of CNN’s countdown to 2025 at the annual New Year’s Eve countdown in New York City’s Times Square.
The Conclave star — who was hardly recognizable in his sweeping epic The Return as a rugged, battle-worn Odysseus — had the co-hosts stifling.
‘I don’t come to work with a green cut-crease. I don’t look like a clown when I go to work,’ he continued all while the two co-hosts appeared to be trying not to crack up.

‘I don’t do too much. I’m mindful at work,’ he continued.
‘See how I look,’ Fiennes said as he ran his hands down his body, bundled up in winter wear for the cold weather, and making the hosts burst into laughter. ‘Very presentable.’
He continued: ‘The way I came to the interview is the way I go to the job. A lot of you girls go to the interview looking like Marge Simpson, looking like Patty and Selma. Not demure.
‘But I am very modest,’ he recited with a straight face and campy delivery.
‘See my shirt,’ he said as he pulled down his shirt. ‘Only a little chichi out. Not my chocho.’
He caused Cooper to howl with laughter so hard that he had to cover his mouth with his hand and turned away from the camera.
‘Be mindful of why they hired you,’ he concluded at the end of the clip.
Then, in a playful manner, he got into Cohen’s face and said: ‘Here’s a reality check, diva. What’s the name you want me to make it out to?’
