Before the final one-on-one dates of the season commenced, Grant caught up with his mom Renee, his dad Robert, and his sister Taylor for the first time as a family since his parents got divorced. First up? Litia, who Grant said, “I picture being my wife. She’s loving, patient, kind, beautiful — and she’s ready.”

After catching the family up on their Bachelor journey, Grant’s mom and Litia had some one-on-one time where Litia answered all of her tough questions perfectly. She assured Grant’s mom that she was in love with her son, wanted to move somewhere neutral and start a life together after the show, and would definitely say “yes!” to a proposal. Then, Litia chatted with Grant’s dad and assured him that she couldn’t wait to have children and start a family. Before the date ended, Grant and his dad shared some emotional one-on-one time together, where Grant shared that his only reservation with Litia was her timeline for children, which was one or two years sooner than his. His dad encouraged him not to let that one holdup “stop the show, and before Litia left, Grant told her that he could definitely see her being with his family. He said that the day only reaffirmed that he loved her. And Litia told him she loved him as well, then revealed it was the first time she’s ever said that to anyone. “After today, I’m the most confident that I’ll be engaged after this week. Mrs. Ellis,” she told cameras.

Next up? Juliana, who was feeling a bit anxious ahead of the day, only because she and Grant hadn’t told each other they were in love yet. Because of that, Grant’s biggest fear was that she wouldn’t be 100% ready for an engagement. But fear not! His mom was ready to straight-up ask. After catching the fam up on their journey and the emotional connections they shared over Grant’s lone wolf tattoo, Juliana and stepped away to chat with Grant’s mom who sensed Juliana’s “vibrant, positive energy” and felt “that she brings peace to Grant’s life.” When she asked if Juliana was ready for an engagement, however, Juliana explained the two hadn’t said “I love you” yet, so she wasn’t sure she would get there in time. When Juliana spoke with Grant’s dad, however, she asked a telling question about Grant’s low points in life that was a major green flag. Grant’s dad told his son he was safe with Juliana, but his mom advised him “to walk away from that” if Juliana wasn’t able to say “I love you” to him. After walking Juliana out, Grant decided to take the leap and drop the L-word. In response, Juliana said, “I love you too and I want it to be you and I at the end of this.” AWWWWWW.

On top of the heartwarming moments with his Top 2 women, Grant also shared an emotional conversation with his dad that will go down in Bachelor Nation history as one of the greatest things to come out of the franchise.

After Litia and Juliana met the parents, they embarked on their final intimate one-on-one dates with Grant in the Dominican Republic. The dates kicked off with an excited and anxious Juliana facing her fears of being hurt and meeting up with him for a day out on the water. The two explored Punta Cana by boat, toasted to how far their relationship had come, and reminisced over the time they spend with Grant’s family.

Following some deep conversations, the lovebirds hopped in the water and had some fun in the sun before meeting up later that night. Following a classic Juliana “hi boyfriend!” the two got vulnerable and laid all their cards out on the table before the big day. Grant asked if an engagement in two days was something she was truly ready for or if she’d break his heart. Juliana promised him that she’d do her best to handle his heart with care because she knows what it feels like to have her own heart crushed. “I will say that I didn’t know if I would be able to get to this point with you or what ready would look like or feel like, and this happened so rapidly, but being able to admit I love you was all the reassurance I needed to enter an engagement with you,” Juliana said, doing her best to assure him. “Heck yeah, I’m ready,” she concluded. After Grant left, Juliana got in her head about his potential conversations with Litia, but at this point, all she could do was wait…

Juliana wasn’t the only one feeling uncertain of Grant’s feelings ahead of his date with Litia. “I love Litia, but I also love Juliana,” Grant told cameras, pre-stressing about his big looming engagement. He put his fears on the back-burner to go on one final date with Litia, who was still incredibly confident they were days away from an engagement. The two went horseback riding, visited the beach, and toasted to their journey, and though Litia’s spirits were high, Grant was in his head.

“This is the first time I have a date with him and I’m not scared. I feel just happy and excited. This might be my last date before Grant puts a ring on it,” Litia told cameras. Meanwhile, Grant said, “Seeing Litia today is amazing, but I do have a bit of a heavy heart, because I do know what’s later on.” After a beautiful day, the two reunited at night to get their last few questions out and have those final serious conversations. Grant brought up the one thing stressing him: the family timeline. He asked how much pressure she feels to have lots of children and follow in her family’s footsteps. She said she wanted the timeline for herself, not her family and stressed that the timeline was a bit flexible. She assured him that she’d want both of them to feel excited and ready to have kids, and though it was the answer he wanted to hear, he looked incredibly sad, because it made his final choice all the more difficult.

“You are enough. You are so much more than enough, and I love you,” Litia told Grant. “I haven’t really said ‘I love you’ in past relationships, and it’s because for whatever reason I have this fear that when I say it or express it or feel it it makes it more likely that I will lose it…but I loved you way before I told you and I had to stop myself from saying it… you make me feel so safe.”

Grant told Litia she was special and explained, “I know what I need, and I see that in you.” To that? Litia said, “Pick me!” with a giggle.

Through dramatic previews we got a little taste of how hesitant Grant was to make a decision going into proposal day, but even after his final one-on-one dates it sounded like he had no inclination of which way he was leaning. “I love both of these women equally. Both hearts are essentially in my hand, and my heart is in their hands. I don’t want to hurt anybody, and to tell one of them they’re not the one for me, it’s like why not?” Grant told cameras. “They’re both caring, they’re both loving, they’re both beautiful, they’re both smart. I don’t know what I’m going to do. My emotions are just everywhere.”

On proposal day, Grant admitted he went to bed thinking he knew what he wanted, but woke up and realized he still didn’t. So what’s a boy to do? Talk to his dad! (BRB, SOBBING!) Grant explained that there was risk on both sides because life after The Bachelor would undoubtedly look different than the picture-perfect show. “I am a little nervous about letting someone down, especially when the connection is so strong,” he said. “Son, you went through this for a reason. And you deserve to be happy. I know you’re good. I know you’re gonna make the right decision. And the future’s bright,” Grant’s dad said. The two hugged goodbye, and though Grant was touched by the advice, he was still unsure about his choice. And his Top 2 women weren’t much calmer…

“Waking up this morning, I’m feeling anxious a little bit. There’s a 50 percent chance that it’s not me, and that’s kind of all I’ve known. Somebody walking away even though they say they love you,” Juliana said. “It went from 25 women to just me and Litia. But the thought of suffering heartbreak again is definitely playing out in my mind.”

“Knowing that today is the last day, I feel hopeful. I love Grant and he loves me too, I know that. But there’s someone else here, Juliana, and she deserves love too,” Litia said. “So I realize there is a possibility I won’t be with Grant at the end. I would feel very confused and heartbroken.”

Despite Grant’s uncertainty, he dared to meet with the great Neil Lane and pick out a ring. But did he….pick a generic ring for either woman? Or a ring with one specific special lady in mind??? Unfortunately, it sounds like the former. AHHHHHH! “I feel confused. I love two women. It’s impossible to make this decision. It’s impossible…It’s not normal that you go into an engagement and you’re still trying to figure out who your person is,” Grant told cameras. “I have a ring and I don’t know who to give it to.”

And now, for the moment we’ve all been waiting for: Grant arrived to the podium site in his suit and Jesse Palmer explained that he really needed to know who to send first.

A literal storm broke out to mirror Grant’s emotions as he explained, “I can see Litia being my wife. And I can see Juliana being my wife. It really is having two hearts in the palm of your hand. To me, it really boils down to who is the best for for me, and I made my decision.”

So who was the first woman to the podium? AKA the runner-up? Litia, who was absolutely ready to get engaged and start a family with Grant. After two kisses (extremely confused!) Litia gave an adorable speech and poured her heart out to Grant only to be utterly blindsided by a breakup. Grant told her she was one of the most amazing, beautiful women he’d ever met and she deserved love and to be treated right, but “I’m not your person.”

When Grant told that Litia he hoped she didn’t view him any differently, she replied, “I do, come on now…It’s all about you. I think I got my answers. You’re different than I thought…I would have a lot of questions if I were [Juliana] from the things that you said to me. But that’s for you guys to work out. That’s none of my business.”

“The things that you’ve said to me all along the way make this decision that you’ve made so much more devastating for me,” Litia told Grant before saying goodbye. “For me, the switch-up is crazy. I’m disappointed. I just want to be so clear that I’m confused, and I’m sad, and I’m mad.”

After Litia and Grant had a tense ATFR reunion, we headed back to the Dominican Republic to see if Grant got his happy ending.

When Juliana arrived on the proposal platform to meet “the man of [her] dreams,” she told him they’ve come so far and she wants to protect his heart on the good and bad days. “I believe that between you, me, our families and god, the sky’s the limit,” Juliana said.

“Since our first night…we’ve always had a connection,” Grant said.”I truly believe that you’re somebody who is my best friend. I’m so grateful for our journey. When you’re going through the toughest times in your life, I want you to know that you don’t have to go through them alone. That I’ll be there for you as your man, your friend, your partner.” He got down on one knee, pulled out the ring, and Juliana accepted his proposal — and the final rose!

So are Grant and Juliana still together? Yep! The fiancés joined Jesse Palmer on stage at the live finale event. Grant confirmed, “It was all worth it.” And Juliana was all screams and squeals as she showed off her Neil Lane ring.
