If you want to spend your holidays in the world of a post-apocalyptic western, then go ahead and go see the movie Homestead in a theater.
This weekend, the movie Homestead will be shown in theaters. The film was directed by Ben Smallbone and the screenplay was written by Phillip Abraham, Leah Bateman, and Jason Ross. It is based on the book Black Autumn authored by Jeff Kirkham and Jason Ross. The story revolves around a family that seeks refuge at “The Homestead” following a nuclear explosion that triggers a period of disorder. The inhabitants of the homestead, a small community, must unite and confront various challenges from nature and other dangers to stay alive.
Homestead stars Neal McDonough, Dawn Olivieri, Currie Graham, Susan Misner, Bailey Chase, Jesse Hutch, Kevin Lawson, Kearran Giovanni, Tyler Lofton, Olivia Sanabia, Grace Powell and Caden Dragomer. It sounds like the kind of movie your dad will love, so here’s what you need to know about where to watch Homestead, and when we expect to see the Homestead movie on digital.
For now, Homestead will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in select theaters in the U.S. on Friday, December 20. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Homestead is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Homestead is not streaming on Netflix or Prime Video right now. While it’s possible Homestead may stream on Netflix someday, it won’t be until after the theatrical run and digital release of the movie. Homestead is not a Netflix original—it’s a small, independent film being distributed by Angel Studios. So far, since the studio’s launch in 2021, none of Angel Studios movies have gone on to stream on Netflix. Never say never, but it’s unlikely you’ll see Homestead streaming on Netflix anytime soon.
You will be able to purchase Homestead on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream Homestead on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch Homestead movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms.
The Homestead movie digital release date has not yet been announced. However, we can make an educated guess as to when we might see Homestead on video-on-demand, based on the digital release of previous films from this studio, Angel Studios.
Another Angel Studios movie, Cabrini, was released in theaters on March 8, and was released on digital platforms on June 25—aka, about three-and-a-half months after opening in theaters. If Homestead follows a similar pattern, you might see Werewolves movie on video-on-demand in about three-and-a-half months, around April 2025.
But this is all speculation. Digital releases vary by title. If you want to see Homestead right away, you can catch the movie in a theater.
