Filmmaker Wes Anderson is back with yet another new movie, The Phoenician Scheme—opening in theaters this weekend—because, apparently, that guy never takes a break from pastels and centered shots.
Like many Anderson movies, The Phoenician Scheme cast is sprawling and star-studded, including, but not limited to, Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, and Hope Davis. Del Toros stars as Anatole “Zsa-Zsa” Korda, a wealthy industrialist and arms dealer who has been dodging more and more harrowing assassination attempts. After his latest brush with death gives him a peak at the afterlife, he attempts to make amends with his daughter (Mia Threapleton).
It certainly looks like a very Wes Anderson movie, and that’s what his fans love. Here’s what to know about where to watch the Wes Anderson movie The Phoenician Scheme and when we expect to be able to watch The Phoenician Scheme movie on streaming.
The Phoenician Scheme movie is only be available to watch in a movie theater right now. The film opened in U.S. theaters on May 30. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. The Phoenician Scheme is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
The Phoenician Scheme is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Focus Features release. Focus Features is a subsidiary of Universal Studios, and almost all Universal movies go to the Universal-owned streaming platform, Peacock.
You will be able to purchase The Phoenician Scheme on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream The Phoenician Scheme on Prime Video free with a Prime subscription any time soon. If you want to watch The Phoenician Scheme movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Peacock.
The Phoenician Scheme is not yet streaming on Peacock. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see The Phoenician Scheme streaming on Peacock eventually, but we’re not sure when. Another Focus Features/Universal release, Conclave, was released on digital after about one month in theaters, and it began streaming on Peacock on December 13—about a month-and-a-half after opening in theaters, and about two weeks after releasing on digital.
If The Phoenician Scheme follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital by late June or early July 2025, and streaming on Peacock around mid-to-late July 2025. However, because this is a highly anticipated release, it’s possible Universal may keep The Phoenician Scheme in theaters for longer.
This is all speculation. Universal has not had a consistent release strategy for home media. If you want to watch the 2025 The Phoenician Scheme movie right away, you can catch the movie in theaters.
