Federal officials apprehended two individuals on Friday at a Los Angeles residence associated with an alleged Iranian human trafficking network that is believed to have been regularly utilized to shelter illegal immigrants connected to extremist activities.
The arrests were brought to light by Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in a statement on Friday as part of a comprehensive national security initiative spanning across various federal bodies.
“CBP conducted a federal raid today at a human trafficking center in Los Angeles linked to potential threats to national security,” the agency reported. “A duo was apprehended during the operation, which was spearheaded by CBP’s Special Response Team with backing from Border Patrol tactical teams and Air and Marine Operations.”
“Under @POTUS, CBP is taking aggressive action to shut down smuggling networks and remove national security threats before they can do harm,” the agency said.Â
