The CTA and CTA service alerts X accounts now have disclaimers saying they are no longer active.
The CTA released the following statement Friday:
“After thorough consideration, CTA has made the decision to cease the utilization of its general information (@cta) and service alerts (@ctaAlerts) accounts on Twitter/X.com. This decision comes as a result of the diminished value that this particular social media platform now offers in terms of effectively engaging and communicating with our riders. However, it’s important to note that the @CTARPM account on X.com will not be impacted by this change and will carry on furnishing project-related information and updates for the duration of the ongoing projects. To access real-time service information, we urge CTA riders to subscribe to our alerts service, which offers notifications via text or email. These alerts can be tailored to deliver information pertaining to preferred routes. For those who only occasionally use CTA services, real-time service updates will still be accessible on transitchicago.com.”
No further information about the agency’s decision to leave the social media site was immediately available.
