A gun-toting man involved in an “active shooter” incident was fatally shot by a Colorado deputy outside a family entertainment center. The man is suspected to have connections to a female who shot another woman inside the establishment just moments before, according to authorities.
The disturbing events unfolded close to midnight at the Main Event in Highlands Ranch, a popular location for various gatherings like bowling and birthday parties, as reported by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The initial law enforcement responder encountered an armed man in the parking lot, as detailed by the sheriff’s office. Despite the deputy’s instructions to surrender the weapon, the man defied the orders and instead turned towards the deputy, prompting the law enforcement officer to fire and ultimately kill the individual.
Despite deputies performing life-saving measures on the man, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The female shooter was taken into custody. No further details about the female shooter or the male who was killed were immediately provided.

Sheriff Darren Weekly told reporters that multiple rounds were fired inside the business. (Douglas County Sheriff’s Office)
