A Democratic Senator from Michigan, Elissa Slotkin, criticized the more progressive members of her party, specifically mentioning Bernie Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and Jasmine Crockett, as being primarily activists.
She unloaded these comments during a Medicaid roundtable in Flint, Michigan.
“I have done as much as I feel like I’m capable of doing to respond in words to what Trump is doing, but I can’t just be an activist,” said Slotkin.
She contends it’s also about actions.
During a public forum, someone questioned Slotkin’s accomplishments for her constituents in comparison to the vocal activism of AOC, Sanders, and Crockett post-election. Slotkin responded candidly.

Slotkin not only dismissed the progressive voices as mere activists but also specifically called out AOC during the event, as reported by CNN.
She said that working hard to combat the Trump administration’s attempts to cut waste, fraud, and abuse from the federal government requires her to be more than “an activist full time.”
“All of those things require me to be more than just an AOC. I can’t do what she does because we live in a purple state, and I’m a pragmatist,” Slotkin insisted.
