Doctor Odyssey is one of the fall’s most exciting new series so it’s no surprise that fans are anticipating new episodes.
Unfortunately, we have some disappointing news to share with you. The eccentric drama conceptualized by executive producer Ryan Murphy will be taking a break for the winter, with no set date for its return. However, fans can anticipate its comeback in the spring.
Fear not, it will feel like no time since ABC is premiering tons of new and returning shows in the meantime, including Season 3 of Will Trent, more of freshman favorite High Potential starring Kaitlin Olson, and Shifting Gears, a brand new comedy starring Kat Dennings and Tim Allen. There will be so much to watch, you won’t even think about the fact that the Joshua Jackson, Phillipa Soo, Sean Teale, and Don Johnson show will not return to your television screen until March.
We cannot guarantee that sentiment is true — they did leave off on a juicy cliffhanger in Episode 8, “Quackers,” telling the audience that Avery (Soo) is pregnant with either Max (Jackson) or Tristan (Teale) — but we hope that you can find another show to fill the Doctor Odyssey sized hole in your heart until then.

At the beginning of the last episode, we found out that Soo’s character has a baby on board and is not sure how to react… or who the daddy is. Since she seemingly conceived during the threesome that she, Max, and Tristand had back in Episode 6, it’s anyone’s guess.
While we don’t know who the father is, it’s not even clear if Avery will continue with the pregnancy. While talking with Max and Tristan about the predicament, she expressed concern and hesitation about the idea of adding another thing to her plate, especially as she readies herself to start medical school. Decider chatted with Soo about Episode 8 and she alluded to rough seas ahead for the trio in regard to the pregnancy.
“It’s been a couple of months since we’ve shot, we didn’t know where we would be at this moment just for our country post-election. But I’m really proud and honored to be an artist and to have the opportunity to bring truth and humanity — as much truth and humanity as possible — to this story of a woman’s conversation with herself about what choices she wants to make about her own body,” she explained.
Guess we will all have to wait and see.

Womp womp, ABC has yet to renew Doctor Odyssey for a second season. It’s not entirely unusual, however, given that one of ABC’s biggest shows, Abbott Elementary, is also awaiting renewal news. ABC is just tapping their feet and waiting this year, it seems.
