ANNECY, FRANCE — Walt Disney Studios and Pixar Animation Studios gave folks at the Annecy Animation Festival plenty to talk about.
First, festival goers were treated to a preview of the upcoming film “Zootopia 2,” set to be released in November. The sequel will see the return of beloved characters such as Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin), Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman), and Mr. Big (voiced by Maurice LaMarche), as well as introduce new characters like Gary De’Snake (voiced by Ke Huy Quan), Nibbles (voiced by Fortune Feimster), and Dr. Fuzzby (voiced by Quinta Brunson). Additionally, it was revealed that renowned French actor Jean Reno will make a cameo appearance as an officer in the Zootopia Police Department.
During the event, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer, Pete Docter, provided a glimpse into the studio’s future projects, including the highly anticipated “Toy Story 5” scheduled for a summer release. Docter confirmed that Joan Cusack will reprise her role as Jessie and hinted at the introduction of intriguing new characters to the Toy Story universe.

Furthermore, Pete Docter unveiled details about another upcoming film titled “Hoppers,” slated to hit theaters in March 2026. The movie will feature the vocal talents of Jon Hamm and Bobby Moynihan, promising an exciting cinematic experience for audiences.

And he announced a new Pixar film called “Gatto,” which is about a black cat named Nero who lives in Venice, Italy. “Indebted to a localfelinemob boss, Nero finds himself in a quandary and is forced toforge a truly unexpectedfriendship that mayfinally lead him to his purpose-unless Venice gets the better of him first,” states the film’s synopsis. “Gatto” is slated to be released in summer, 2027.
