While selecting the main image for this article, I pondered about Walt Disney’s potential thoughts on the company he established in Los Angeles in 1923. The company was created to entertain numerous generations of both American children and adults alike.
Present-day Los Angeles differs greatly from its past, and the Walt Disney Company’s strong emphasis on DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) has transformed the birthplace of Mickey Mouse into a “woke” entity that is barely recognizable when compared to its legendary history. This transformation is highlighted by the reported financial losses of over $1 billion from its last four major releases, all of which failed at the box office.
Amidst the increasing backlash from Disney investors regarding the company’s misguided dedication to all things “woke,” Disney has apparently decided to discontinue two DEI initiatives, as disclosed in the company’s recent SEC filing reported by Fox Business. This includes ending its controversial program named “Reimagine Tomorrow,” which Disney defines in the following manner:
Reimagine Tomorrow is our way of amplifying underrepresented voices and untold stories as well as championing the importance of accurate representation in media and entertainment. Because we are all greater than a single story and we all deserve to be seen, heard, and understood.
Here’s more, via Fox Business:
“On my little pocket of Proud Family Disney TVA, the showrunners were super welcoming… our leadership over there has been super welcoming to my not-at-all-secret gay agenda… they’re going hard… I don’t have to be afraid to have these two characters kiss in the background. I was just, wherever I could, adding queerness,” executive producer Latoya Raveneau said at the time.
The page [which is still active] also lists racial and gender breakdowns of their content and workforce as of 2021, and boasts of their Business Employee Research Groups which represent employees from different ethnic backgrounds.
As Disney has been forced to see, butchering once-lovable Disney stories with over-the-top depictions of alternative lifestyles to the point of ad nauseam — confirmed by billions in losses — has led parents across America to tune out, no longer wanting to subject their young children to DEI propaganda — assuming even a minority of Americans ever did.
