Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) once famously remarked that certain areas of the country are so overwhelmingly Democratic that even a “glass of water would win with a ‘D’ next to its name.”
Although Pelosi’s comment was aimed at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) during a publicized disagreement early in AOC’s tenure in office, it still rings true today. This was evident in California’s election of Adam Schiff, a key figure in the Russia collusion scandal, as their senator in 2024.
During the 2024 elections, Schiff faced off against former Los Angeles Dodgers player Steve Garvey, who highlighted Schiff’s history of spreading falsehoods about Russian collusion while serving as chairman of the House Intelligence Committee. Garvey pointedly told Schiff during a debate, “You lied to 300 million people. You can’t take that back.”
