One of the left’s actions that can’t help but make you chuckle is the Sanders/AOC “Fight Oligarchy” tour. Picture this: a former bartender from the Bronx and an eccentric old Bolshevik from Vermont jet-setting around the nation on a luxury private jet to scold people about the evils of the “oligarchy.” The irony is simply too good to ignore. It’s worth mentioning that AOC has one leg up on Bernie with her experience as a bartender, a job that involves hard work and honesty, unlike Bernie who has never held a job for long, except for a short stint in carpentry.
It’s downright comical to see the wealthy old Bolshevik (worth $15 million) and AOC (worth $13 million) preaching to us about “the right” while embodying extreme levels of hypocrisy. They not only condemn billionaires but conveniently forget their past criticisms of millionaires now that they fall into that category. Their lectures on carbon emissions and climate change add yet another layer of hypocrisy, particularly glaring when you consider the environmental impact of their private jet flights.
Despite criticism, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders continues his nationwide “Fighting Oligarchy” tour, defending his use of private jets for travel. An energy watchdog group has meticulously calculated the staggering carbon emissions generated by his frequent flights across the country.
During the 16 stops of the tour, which Sanders embarked on with the help of progressive Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, his private jet emitted a total of 62.15 tonnes, or metric tons, of carbon dioxide, according to an estimate from Power the Future.
To put that in perspective, Power the Future said in a press release that the emissions equate to burning 62,600 pounds of coal, driving a gas-powered SUV 150,000 miles, powering every home in Sanders’ hometown of Burlington, Vermont, for weeks, and powering nine U.S. homes for an entire year.
Now this right here is funny, and that’s a natural-born fact.Â
But wait! There’s more!
“Sen. Sanders has voted for legislation punishing people for their carbon footprint and threatening fossil fuel executives with prison for climate change hysteria, but his personal actions demonstrate he’s just another limousine liberal, a fake socialist, unwilling to live what he wants to impose on you,” Dan Turner, Power the Future founder and executive director, told Fox News Digital.
“The climate movement is dead, and Bernie Sanders’ hypocrisy helped kill it.”
Here’s the thing about socialists: They’re all fakes. Just look at the net worth of any number of socialist dictators. Just look at the fortunes amassed, generally held in offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands or Switzerland. Look at the palaces; look at the old Soviet Union, where the Politburo had Zil limousines and luxury dachas along the rivers in the woods outside Moscow while their people were standing in line for the monthly potato ration.
That’s socialism in a nutshell. And that’s what Bernie and AOC are doing, albeit on a (slightly) smaller scale, right here.
