Karen Read, the Massachusetts murder suspect, had her trial ongoing for the alleged killing of her former boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe. During the recent court session, DNA specialists and a digital forensics expert presented evidence connecting the victim to a single hair discovered on Read’s SUV. Additionally, the experts also provided insights to further clarify the timeline leading up to the final moments of O’Keefe’s life.
But under cross-examination, a witness with key new evidence for the state revealed what appears to be an exaggerated resume.
The tragic incident occurred on January 29, 2022, when the lifeless body of 46-year-old O’Keefe was discovered. Read, who was O’Keefe’s girlfriend at the time and is now 45 years old, is accused of intentionally crashing her 2021 Lexus SUV into him. She allegedly abandoned him to perish on the snowy ground during a blizzard in Canton, a town located approximately 20 miles south of Boston.
Read took her car out of reverse between 12:32:04 and 12:32:12, Burgess testified, based on computer logs recovered from her Lexus.

The trial is set to continue with Burgess slated to provide more testimony on the following day. In the event of a conviction for the primary charge of second-degree murder, Read could potentially face a sentence of life imprisonment. Apart from the murder accusation, Read is also facing charges related to driving under the influence, manslaughter, and fleeing from the scene of a fatal accident.
She has pleaded not guilty, and her defense denies her vehicle collided with O’Keefe at all.
