Authorities stated that a worker at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) near Washington, D.C. who is employed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been charged following a workplace altercation.
The individual in question, Damon Marsalis Gaines, age 38 from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, faces charges of assault and battery in connection with the altercation. According to POLITICO’s report, Gaines holds a position in controller operations.
Fox News Digital was informed by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) that the incident occurred in a control tower on Thursday.
The FAA also confirmed the incident to Fox News Digital.

An FAA report later found that the number of staff working at DCA’s air control tower at the time was “not normal for the time of day and volume of traffic.”
On Saturday, a United Airlines plane reportedly made contact with a kite while it was attempting to land at DCA, though that event is unrelated to the assault incident.
