MERRILLVILLE, Ill. (WLS) — Police investigated a deadly shooting Saturday at a gas station in Northwest Indiana.
Shots were fired around 9:43 a.m. in the 700 block of East Lincoln Highway in Merrillville, police said.

Police told ABC7 the shooting happened inside the convenience store at the Luke gas station on Lincoln Highway.
According to Merrillville Police Detectives, the tragic event has been determined as a murder-suicide, resulting from a domestic issue. The police statement mentioned that both the victim and the suspect were acquainted with each other.
Video showed part of the area blocked off with crime scene tape.

In response to the incident, officials from Luke’s gas station shared a message on social media, acknowledging the unfortunate event that occurred at their Merrillville location. They assured continued support and prayers for their team and the local communities they serve as part of the Luke family.
The gas station remained closed most of the day.
Authorities said there is no indication of any current threat to the public. Their investigation continues.
