As the investigation into the recent terror attack on Bourbon Street progresses, attention has been drawn back to a controversial statement made by an FBI agent shortly after the incident.
Following the tragic event that occurred in the early hours of New Year’s Day, resulting in the deaths of 14 individuals and numerous injuries at the hands of a suspected ISIS convert, Alethea Duncan, the assistant special agent at the FBI-New Orleans field office, stated the following:
At this moment, this incident is not classified as a terrorist attack. What we are currently dealing with are potential improvised explosive devices that have been discovered, and our priority is to verify whether these devices pose a genuine threat or not.
The New Orleans incident is “not a terrorist event” says FBI assistant special agent in charge, Aletha Duncan.
There have been “improvised explosive devices” found in the area, she adds.
