FBI says New Orleans terror attack was 'not definitively linked' to Las Vegas Cybertruck bomb

The FBI has confirmed there is ‘no definitive link’ between the terror attack in New Orleans and a CyberTruck bombing in Las Vegas

Deputy Assistant Christopher Raia said that NOLA terror suspect Shamsud-Din Jabbar was a lone wolf.

‘We do not assess at this point that anyone else is involved in this attack except for Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the subject you’ve already been briefed on,’ Raia said.

The FBI has reached this conclusion following a CyberTruck explosion outside a Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, occurring just hours after the deadly car attack.

The statement is a reversal on their previous assessment that Jabbar likely had accomplices.

‘As you know, there’s also an FBI investigation in Las Vegas,’ Raia said. ‘We are following up on all potential leads and not ruling everything out.

‘However, at this point, there is no definitive link between the attack here in New Orleans and the one in Las Vegas.

‘And again, I’ll preface as I close, I’ll preface everything with what I started with in the beginning, which was this is very early in an investigation like this.’

Matthew Livelsberger, 37, was identified as the bomber in the attack that left seven wounded. He is pictured in Afghanistan in a profile by a local newspaper in the Ohio town where he grew up

Authorities said Jabbar, 42, is responsible for killing 15 people and injuring 30 others in the New Year’s Day bloodbath on Bourbon Street.

The US army veteran drove a rented Ford electric vehicle packed with explosives and carrying an ISIS flag into the crowds to carry out the massacre.

Investigators said they were looking into whether anyone placed improvised explosive devices at the scene which were separate from the truck, but they have since confirmed this was done by Jabbar.

Initially it was thought he could be linked to Matthew Livelsberger, the Las Vegas incident, after it emerged the two had served on the same base.

Police have not confirmed if the pair were known to each other.

Livelsberger, 37, is a long-serving, married Green Beret who was on leave from active duty when he carried out the attack outside Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel which left seven wounded.

The electric vehicle exploded about 15 seconds after the driver pulled up in front of the hotel’s valet.

The blast was caused by ‘a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck’ or ‘very large fireworks’, according to Tesla CEO Elon Musk.

Livelsberger is suspected of renting the Cybertruck in Colorado Springs, via the Turo app, and driving it across the border to Nevada on Wednesday morning, stopping at various charging stations along the route.

He was killed in the explosion on Wednesday which injured seven others.

A former college football star, high school senior, father-of-two and young mother are some of the 15 victims who tragically died when Jabbar deliberately drove into the group of pedestrians.

Tiger Bech, 28, Ni’Kyra Cheyenne Dedeaux, 18, Reggie Hunter, 37, Matthew Tenedorio, 25, Kareem Badawi, Nicole Perez, 27, and Hubert Gauthreaux, 21, have all been identified as victims by their families.
