A neighborly dispute led to a Florida man attacking a neighbor with a knife, according to authorities who responded to the scene.
A man named Addiel Herrera, aged 48, is accused of assaulting his neighbor in a duplex following an argument between them. The incident took place on December 28, as reported by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO), who posted body camera footage on social media.
It is alleged that Herrera tried to get hold of a knife while the victim, described only as a woman by the authorities, tried to protect herself by closing her garage and locking the doors.
Herrera is then said to have banged on the victim’s door.Â
Subsequently, Herrera was subdued and arrested. He faces charges of armed burglary with assault and is currently held in custody without bail at the Lee County Jail.
Herrera’s criminal history includes an arrest for battery and resisting an officer in September, “along with various other violent charges,” LCSO said.Â
LCSO told Fox News Digital the dispute began with a man making a comment about a family member of the suspect.Â
“It’s no surprise this man has a lengthy criminal history that includes aggravated assault and battery,” Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement. “Violence of any kind will NOT be tolerated in Lee County. Not only is he a bad neighbor, but he’s a bad resident of Lee County.”
