Neera Tanden, who was a Senior Advisor to President Biden in the first part of his presidency, testified on Tuesday as part of a investigation by the Committee regarding Biden’s cognitive decline and his ability to use an autopen in such situations.
According to the Washington Examiner, Tanden stated, “As staff secretary, I was in charge of managing the flow of documents to and from the president. I also had the authority to oversee the use of autopen signatures on specific types of documents.”
She also mentioned, “We had a process for approving the use of the autopen that I inherited from previous administrations. This process was utilized throughout my time as staff secretary.”
