Prosecutors who pushed Menendez brothers resentencing plan to sue new DA for ‘retaliation,’ alleged demotions

Two prosecutors from Los Angeles County who supported the release of the Menendez brothers from prison are alleging that they faced retaliation from the new Los Angeles County District Attorney, Nathan Hochman.

Nancy Theberge and Brock Lunsford, prosecutors in Los Angeles County, are claiming damages of $5.25 million each due to actions they believe were taken against them in response to their support for the release of the Menendez brothers. This information was obtained from documents by Fox News Digital. They state that their professional paths and reputations have been negatively impacted by being transferred to different departments at the conclusion of the previous year.

The two prosecutors previously served in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office during the tenure of former DA George GascĂ³n, who was defeated by Hochman in the November election. Theberge and Lunsford publicly endorsed the idea of Erik and Lyle Menendez being resentenced. In October, they prepared a detailed 57-page petition outlining the rehabilitation of the Menendez brothers. Additionally, they were present at a press conference on October 24 where then-DA GascĂ³n declared his intention to seek resentencing for the brothers.

“Nancy and Brock are committed public servants and accomplished attorneys who followed the law — the law they believed required them to advocate for the resentencing of the Menendez brothers,” Shegerian told Fox News Digital. “The harassment and retaliation that followed was politically motivated, illegal, and devastating.”

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for comment.
