An illegal immigrant in Georgia is behind bars after he allegedly molested four children who were under the age of 14.
Nery Antonio Gonzalez, 36, was taken into custody by the Valdosta Police Department on March 14 following an investigation that revealed he had committed sexual assaults against four minors at various locations within the city.
The Valdosta Police Department said Gonzalez is in the United States illegally, and is originally from Guatemala.

Valdosta Police Department Chief Leslie Manahan said in a statement that the four children will be traumatized for the rest of their lives.

The police chief expressed profound sadness for the suffering experienced by the children due to the crimes and emphasized the courage shown by two victims who came forward. Their bravery led to the apprehension of the perpetrator, highlighting the effective collaboration between law enforcement and community organizations to protect the victims from further harm.
