An Illinois city police department has made a commitment to obstruct local law enforcement from collaborating with ICE. The department declared that, as per Illinois’ Trust Act, it will refuse to provide ICE with details about individuals suspected of being undocumented immigrants.
The Waukegan Police Department stated, “The primary goal of the city at this time is to secure and safeguard the well-being of our community by adhering to the directives of the Illinois Attorney General Office. This involves abstaining from involvement in federal enforcement activities by prohibiting the sharing of information solely based on immigration status.”
Illinois passed the Trust Act during President Donald Trump’s first term in office in 2017.

Nearly 1,000 people were arrested Saturday morning, according to the ICE. (ICE)
Popular X account Libs of TikTok shared the statement and slammed the department.
“Obstructing law enforcement is a crime,” the account posted. “Harboring a fugitive is a crime.”
Tom Homan, Trump’s no-nonsense border czar, isn’t backing down to sanctuary cities that refuse to cooperate.
Thomas Homan recently stated on “Fox & Friends,” “Sanctuary cities are going to face the consequences they don’t desire — increased presence of agents in the communities, elevated arrests, and more collateral detentions. So, if that’s the game they wish to engage in? Then let the game commence.”
ICE has been documenting its arrest numbers on X as it works to fulfill the mass deportation promise Trump made to voters during his campaign.
