A man believed to be an undocumented immigrant who was found guilty of causing a fatal collision in Colorado last year while operating a semi-truck has been apprehended by federal immigration authorities.
Ignacio Cruz-Mendoza, aged 47 and a citizen of Mexico, was taken into custody by agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at the Jefferson County Detention Center’s entrance shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, right after he was released from custody, as reported by Denver7.
Cruz-Mendoza was the driver of a semi-truck involved in a June 2024 crash on Highway 285, which left one man dead.

Following his detention on Sunday, Cruz-Mendoza was moved to the ICE Denver Contract Detention Facility, where he will be held while awaiting deportation from the United States.
