Chicago Immigration Raids Planned for Trump Day Two Begin, Blue State Officials Crying They Weren't Told

Remember last week, when information leaked ahead of the incoming Trump administration’s planned immigration raids in Chicago on Day Two (Tuesday)?

President Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, stood firm on continuing operations in sanctuary cities, dismissing any attempts to slow them down. This statement came after a legacy media member suggested otherwise.

Residents in blue states and cities who celebrated halting the Trump administration’s efforts to restore law and order are now facing a harsh reality. The promised operations have commenced in Chicago, proving that the administration follows through on its commitments.

Various law enforcement agencies are set to carry out these operations in the upcoming days. The Justice Department has announced its involvement, with Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove personally supervising the initiative in Chicago, referring to it as a “national emergency.”

And the forces pitching in–both in Chicago and nation wide–aren’t limited to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), with the DEA, FBI, BATF, and the U.S. Marshals all taking part.

In a statement, ICE weighed in with more information on the “enhanced targeted operations”:

Immigration and Customs Enforcement said in a statement that federal agencies have started “enhanced targeted operations” in Chicago “to enforce U.S. immigration law and preserve public safety and national security by keeping potentially dangerous criminal aliens out of our communities.”

In their story linked above, the NYT quoted several Illinois politicians and leaders, one of whom appeared on a Sunday show to virtue-signal resistance to Pres. Trump’s stated policy:

Gov. JB Pritzker of Illinois said on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday that his state would cooperate with federal authorities in deporting undocumented immigrants convicted of crimes or with pending deportation orders. But he emphasized that state law enforcement would not take part in targeted raids or profile people in the state who might be without documents.

The report added that the governor’s office confirmed they “[were] not given advance notice of the arrests.”

The Chicago Police Department, through a spokesman, doubled down on its refusing to work with ICE:

A spokesman for the Chicago Police Department on Sunday reiterated that the department, in accordance with municipal code, does not document immigration status or share information with federal immigration authorities.

Check out the level of crying happening in Chicago at this hour:

The scale of arrests in Chicago and elsewhere was unclear on Sunday. Local officials in Chicago said they had not been involved in the operations.

I can’t resist ending with this, also from Sunday, with Homan’s most recent, powerful interview with the legacy media. On ABC News’ “This Week,” host Martha Raddatz attempted to shame him over Trump’s Day One executive order reauthorizing ICE to seek out illegals in or near “schools, hospitals, churches.”

Watch (start the clip below at around 1:51):

He didn’t even flinch, shooting back a question at Raddatz, before answering it:

How many MS-13 members are the age 14 to 17? Many of them.

Bingo. And the answer to all of the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the Left is pretty simple: When you show you cannot be trusted with operational details about federal actions just to spite Donald Trump and without a care about the sovereignty of the U.S., what exactly did you expect to happen?
