Negotiations between Iran and the U.S. commenced in Oman on the weekend concerning Tehran’s progression in nuclear activities, with the focus likely on Iran’s uranium enrichment.
As reported by Iranian state media, the discussions kicked off in Muscat, Oman’s capital, on Saturday. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and U.S. Mideast envoy Steve Witkoff did not divulge any immediate details about the discussions.
Araghchi traveled to Oman on Friday and held a meeting with Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, who had facilitated the initial two rounds of discussions in Muscat and Rome. Araghchi was spotted heading to the talks on late Saturday morning.

“There are some people that want to make a different kind of a deal — a much nastier deal — and I don’t want that to happen to Iran if we can avoid it,” he added.
