Iran has hanged a man convicted of spying for Israel, Iranian state media reported on Wednesday.
Pedram Madani was reportedly executed following the confirmation of a death penalty by Iran’s highest court, which had been issued by a lower court. The state-run IRNA news agency disclosed that Madani had traveled to Israel and met with Mossad agents to provide confidential details on facilities in Iran where “infrastructure” machinery had been set up.

The number of executions in Iran has been on the rise in recent weeks. Iran Human Rights, a monitoring organization located in Norway, noted that a minimum of 60 individuals have been put to death in the past ten days.
Madani was the third person this year executed on charges of “spying for Israel,” which are often based on vague accusations, the organization said.
In April, Iran executed a man convicted of working with Mossad and of playing a role in the 2022 killing of a Revolutionary Guard colonel in Tehran.
