Spring is almost here, but that doesn’t mean you should skip out on watching horror movies like The Woman in the Yard, a new 2025 horror film premiering in cinemas this weekend.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (House of Wax, Carry-On) and scripted by Sam Stafanak, The Woman in the Yard narrates the tale of a content married couple (played by Danielle Deadwyler and Russell Hornsby) along with their two offspring (depicted by Peyton Jackson and Estella Kahina). They enjoy a tranquil life in a secluded farmhouse until an enigmatic woman clad in a black veil materializes in their backyard, ominously forewarning them that “today’s the day.” As per the code of horror movies, that cryptic message probably doesn’t bode well.
The Woman in the Yard was brought to life by Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions and is set to hit theaters across the nation under the banner of Universal Pictures. Following the tradition of Blumhouse horror flicks, it promises to deliver an amalgamation of captivating and heart-pounding moments. The Woman in the Yard will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. on Friday, March 28 in theaters nationwide. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. The Woman in the Yard is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
The Woman in the Yard is not streaming on Netflix, and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Universal release. Almost all Universal movies go to the NBCUniversal streaming platform, Peacock.
You will be able to purchase The Woman in the Yard on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital, but you will not be able to stream The Woman in the Yard for free on Prime Video any time soon, because it is not a Prime original movie. If you want to watch the The Woman in the Yard movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on Peacock.
The Woman in the Yard is not yet streaming on Peacock. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see The Woman in the Yard streaming on Peacock eventually, but we’re not sure when. Another Universal release, Nosferatu, began streaming on Peacock on February 21, which was about two months after the movie opened in theaters, and about one month after the film released on digital.
If The Woman in the Yard follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital by late April 2025, and streaming on Peacock around late May 2025.
This is all speculation. Universal has not had a consistent digital release strategy. Speak No Evil, for example, took three months to stream on Peacock, rather than two. So it’s possible The Woman in the Yard won’t be streaming until late June 2025. if you want to watch The Woman in the Yard movie right away, your best bet is to catch the movie in theaters.
