An unidentified woman who made allegations against rappers Jay-Z and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs regarding a rape that allegedly occurred in 2000 as a teenager recently admitted to fabricating the sexual assault claims.
In a stunning revelation captured in a recording obtained by ABC News, the accuser, identified only as Jane Doe, disclosed that she was coerced by her lawyer to file a lawsuit against the 55-year-old billionaire music tycoon, who happens to be married to the globally renowned superstar Beyoncé.
When questioned about her assertion that Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, assaulted her at a VMA’s afterparty when she was just 13 years old, the woman retracted her initial statement.
Per an excerpt of the audiotape, one of the investigators, asked: ‘He was just there, but he didn’t have anything to do with any sexual acts towards you?’
‘Yeah,’ Jane Doe replied after previously naming him in a sexual assault case, which was filed in December 2024 and dismissed last month.Â
She went on to claim that her attorney, Tony Buzbee, put her up to suing the father-of-three, who is reportedly worth $2.5 billion.Â

The anonymous woman, who accused rappers Jay-Z and Sean ‘ Diddy ‘ Combs of raping her as a teen in 2000, revealed why she lied about being sexually assaulted
‘He was the one that kind of pushed me towards going forward with him, with Jay-Z,’ the woman insisted.Â
When investigators asked specifically if she was speaking about Buzbee, she said: ‘Yeah.’
In a statement to ABC News, Buzbee called Jane Doe’s claim that he pushed her to bring a case against Jay-Z as a ‘blatant lie’ that directly contradicts ‘all the documentary evidence.’ Â
During his interview with ABC News’ Aaron Katersky on Wednesday’s episode of Good Morning America, Jay-Z’s lawyer spoke about Jane Doe’s wild allegation and his efforts to clear his client’s name.
‘People around Mr. Carter wanted to know what happened behind closed doors and, so, they asked for her to be interviewed,’Â Spiro said.Â
‘The interview occurred and the tape speaks for itself,’ he explained. ‘She says — in no uncertain terms — Mr. Carter did not do this. It is effectively a lie. The only reason Mr. Carter is even involved in this is because she was pushed to involve him – pushed to include him — by a lawyer.’
In a statement provided to ABC News, Spiro, denied that Jane Doe ever had any interaction with his client.Â
‘Mr. Carter doesn’t know Jane Doe, never met Jane Doe. There’s no truth to any of this,’Â Spiro said.

In a bombshell recording, obtained by ABC News, the accuser, known as Jane Doe, claimed to private investigators that her attorney, Tony Buzbee, pushed her to sue the music mogul, 55 (Buzbee pictured in 2023)
Jay-Z said in a statement, last month after the lawsuit was dismissed, that it felt like a ‘victory.’Â
‘The fictional tale they created was laughable, if not for the seriousness of the claims. I would not wish this experience on anyone,’ he said.Â
The 99 Problems hitmaker went on to reveal the toll that the case has taken on his entire family.
The statement continued: ‘The trauma that my wife, my children, loved ones and I have endured can never be dismissed.
‘This 1-800 lawyer gets to file a suit hiding behind Jane Doe, and when they quickly realize that the money grab is going to fail, they get to walk away with no repercussions. The system has failed.’Â
He finished off the emotional statement with a commentary on the court system and sexual assault allegations as a whole.
Jay-Z concluded: ‘The court must protect victims, OF COURSE, while with the same ethical responsibility, the courts must protect the innocent from being accused without a shred of evidence. May the truth prevail for all victims and those falsely accused equally.’

Jay-Z said in a statement, last month after the lawsuit was dismissed, that it felt like a ‘victory’ but that he wouldn’t ‘wish this experience on anyone’ (seen in 2024)Â

The rapper went on to reflect on how the claims have traumatized him, his wife and their kids; seen with Beyoncé and their daughter Blue Ivy at the Grammy Awards in LA last month
Last month, it was also revealed that Jay-Z sued Jane Doe and Buzbee as he claimed the ‘lies’ and ‘extortionate threats’ made by them led him to a $20 million loss.
The Empire State Of Mind artist accused the defendants in the case, in addition to attorney David Fortney, of ‘malicious prosecution, abuse of process, civil conspiracy and defamation,’ according to legal documents filed in Alabama and reviewed by Dailymail.com.
In the legal complaint, Jay-Z says the defendants ‘were soullessly motivated by greed, in abject disregard of the truth and the most fundamental precepts of human decency.’
Diddy’s attorney has also released a statement taking aim at opposing attorney Buzbee which read: ‘Today’s complete dismissal without a settlement by the 1-800 attorney is yet another confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts.
‘For months, we have seen case after case filed by individuals hiding behind anonymity, pushed forward by an attorney more focused on media headlines than legal merit. Just like this claim, the others will fall apart because there is no truth to them.
‘Sean Combs has never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone—man or woman, adult or minor. No number of lawsuits, sensationalized allegations, or media theatrics will change that reality. We will continue to fight these baseless claims and hold those responsible. This is just the first of many that will not hold up in a court of law.’
The accuser, who identifies herself as Jane Doe in legal documents reviewed by Dailymail.com back in December, had said the assault took place at a party after the award show.
