Jenna Bush Hager is known for her matchmaking efforts, particularly involving her former Today co-host Hoda Kotb. During Lenny Kravitz’s visit to the show in September 2024, Bush Hager shared some intriguing details about her attempt to set up Kotb with the elusive rockstar.
While discussing Kravitz’s home feature in Architectural Digest with Tyra Banks, the two couldn’t help but admire his unique style. Banks mentioned how Kravitz appeared edgy but was actually quite down-to-earth, a sentiment Bush Hager wholeheartedly agreed with.
She continued, “It’s weird because he looks all like, ‘Hey what’s up, baby? How are you doing?’ But he’s like, ‘Hey! How’s your mom?’ He’s a dad.”
Bush Hager recounted the awkward incident when she tried to play matchmaker between Kotb and Kravitz during his previous appearance on the show, highlighting a humorous and slightly embarrassing moment for Kotb.
“It’s so funny that you say that because I’ve never articulated that thought out loud,” Bush Hager said. “But there was a period where I was trying to set Hoda up with him because she like every other woman in the world finds him irresistible.”
She continued, “And he was on our show and he was wearing a mesh top and leather pants and I was trying to set them up. It was like I was setting my uncle up with Hoda.”
Banks jokingly called him “Uncle Lenny” as Bush Hager remarked, “He’s so normal.”
When Kravitz was last on the show, Bush Hager pointed out that Kotb also pulled out the leather pants in honor of his appearance. She then pointedly asked him, “Listen, I know you’re in a new chapter. Are you looking for love?”
Kravitz appeared to be stumped for a moment before he responded, “That’s an interesting question. I mean, always. Love is all there is.”
“Well, I know of an electric lady if you want her number,” Bush Hager responded. “She’s right here.” Kotb, who appeared embarrassed by the joke, tried to cut the moment short by interjecting and switching the subject.
