LOS ANGELES — Jesse Eisenberg wrote, directed, and starred in the movie “A Real Pain,” receiving praise from critics and viewers. The film also features Kieran Culkin as Eisenberg’s co-star. Together, they portray cousins with differing opinions embarking on a picturesque journey to Poland.
The film “A Real Pain,” produced by Searchlight Pictures, received four Golden Globe nominations, notably for Best Picture, Best Actor (Eisenberg), Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor (Culkin). Culkin emerged as the winner in his category. Additionally, the movie secured the prestigious Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the Sundance Film Festival and earned a spot on AFI’s prestigious Top 10 Movies of 2024 list.
During an interview with On The Red Carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, Eisenberg shared insights on selecting his co-star. He mentioned that despite limited prior interactions, he felt a strong connection with Culkin. Eisenberg’s sister also played a role in recommending Culkin for the role after reading the script, solidifying the decision to cast him.
“A Real Pain” begins streaming January 16 on Hulu.
