Joe Scarborough abruptly shut down a discussion when Lauren Boebert’s name was so much as mentioned on his MSNBC talk show Wednesday.
The television show has been facing challenges recently following a meeting between hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski with Donald Trump at Mar-a-Lago. During a segment, they were discussing how House Republicans wanted to see their fellow colleagues prosecuted.
Initially, Brzezinski brought up James Comer – a key ally of Elon Musk’s new DOGE department – and Tim Burchett suggesting as such.
However, when she pivoted to Lauren Boebert’s comments on the matter, Brzezinski was quickly stopped by Scarborough.
‘Alright, alright, I don’t care,’ said the co-host through audible groaning, before making a crass reference to Boebert’s personal life.
‘Go see a play,’ he added, before trying to move to a discussion with Democrat Congressman Dan Goldman.
Scarborough was making light of Boebert’s ejection from a Denver performance of Beetlejuice: The Musical for lewd behavior.
Brzezinski intended to share a comment made by Boebert about Democrats, suggesting that their request for preemptive pardons looked suspicious and guilty. She added that anyone who had wrongfully jailed American citizens and destroyed their lives should be investigated.
Since their visit to President-Elect Donald Trump’s residence at Mar-a-Lago, the couple has been embroiled in a series of controversies, which has angered their audience.
Scarborough added fuel to the fire when he went on a 20-minute rant last week responding to critics who said he ‘fears’ Trump.
During the 2024 election, the hosts of Morning Joe repeatedly denounced Trump as a fascist, racists and sexist and argued he should not be president.
Things came to a boil earlier this year after Scarborough likened Trump to Adolf Hitler, with their visit sparking fury amongst their liberal viewers and show staff.
Speaking about the visit for the first time with The Daily Beast podcast with hosts , Brzezinski said they met with Trump due to people being ‘really scared’.
‘The way I look at it is people are really scared, that’s one of the reasons we went in there. People are really scared about Trump’s comments about political adversaries. A lot of people are scared because of what has happened with abortion.’
But on November 18, they revealed during their show that they met with Trump over the weekend in Florida.
Brzezinski said at the time they decided to reach out to Trump for ‘the opportunity to speak with the President-elect, himself’ because their viewers have expressed fear following Trump’s election.
But their action has received harsh pushback with them defending themselves for the move ever since.
‘People who are fearful and concerned, let me tell you something, we should have no fear,’ Scarborough declared during his 20-minute rant Thursday.
‘We should be deeply, deeply concerned about the constitutional norms,’ he added.
Scarborough said they should do everything they can to encourage Republican senators to ‘hold the line against nominees that would destroy the Pentagon, that would destroy the intel community.’
He argued they need to ‘keep fighting’ and ‘have no fear, show no fear.’
But he claimed when they get to a state in media culture where civility is confused with fear ‘then we’re in trouble.’
Scarborough claimed he’s sick and tired of the ‘nonsense’ and wished they could just ‘get to work.’
Brzezinski repeated again their meeting with Trump was ‘not kissing the ring’ but a serious meeting and them doing their job.
