Everyone, and we mean absolutely everyone, was in high spirits this Friday during the taping of The View. Even the first guest of the day didn’t hold back when discussing his personal life — and all this before noon. There must be something special in those View mugs that the audience isn’t privy to.
When the hosts welcomed actor John Leguizamo to the set to talk about his latest movie, Bob Trevino Likes It, they carried on with their candid conversation from earlier. The discussion, originally about Kate Hudson’s candid remarks on sex in her 40s, somehow transitioned into an unexpected exchange about co-host Ana Navarro’s viewing habits in a light-hearted R-rated banter.
“Did you catch our spicy Hot Topic about sex?” Behar inquired playfully, referring to the preceding segment. Leguizamo seemed momentarily caught off guard before responding with a slightly awkward, “Oh yeah, sex is, yeah. Well yeah, it’s yeah,” while readjusting his jacket.
Still, as uncomfortable as he appeared to be initially, Leguizamo then offered more information than any of the ladies were prepared for. He told them, “I’m on Propecia, so it’s a different thing.”
While some of the panel laughed, Behar was confused. “You’re what?” she asked, and Leguizamo divulged even more as he explained, “Propecia for your hair makes your thing not work as much, so then you have to go on, you have to take Viagra to undo the Propecia. But I wanna have good hair, so.”
He then quipped, “It’s an up and down thing,” which sent the panel into hysterics. Seemingly realizing where he was (a daytime TV studio at 11:30 in the morning!!), Leguizamo apologized, remarking, “I’m sorry I started so rudely,” but Navarro simply advised, “Go to Turkey, get some hair plugs and continue.”
His confession came just moments after Navarro delivered her own TMI remarks in the prior segment while debating Hudson’s take that sex in her 40s is better because she’s less inhibited.
“If you ever see porn— not that I do!” Navarro said, before detailing how “perfect” women look in such videos. Sunny Hostin poked fun at her, remarking, “the porn you haven’t seen,” as Navarro played along, “Yeah, I’ve heard,” and joked, “I always said I was the bad Catholic on the panel.”
She didn’t stop there, though. Navarro leaned in hard, explaining, “The older you get … the more you know about the stuff and what buttons to push and pull and press and, you know,” which prompted a concerned Sara Haines to question, “What are you pulling?”
Navarro shot back, “Go watch porn,” but Behar interjected, “I thought you didn’t watch it.”
Haines then joked, “She has a friend, Joy,” and Navarro echoed, “Yeah, I have a friend.”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
