Joy Behar may want to rethink her gift-giving approach after Brian Teta, the executive producer of “The View,” called her out for not buying him a Christmas present. During a recent episode, Teta jokingly referred to Behar as “cheap” due to her lack of gift-giving.
The exchange took place during a discussion on spending habits, where Behar defended herself by stating, “I don’t consider myself very frugal. But Brian told me that because I never give him a Christmas gift, he thinks I’m cheap.” Teta, on the other hand, playfully confirmed his stance, prompting a light-hearted back-and-forth.
Behar, however, defended her decision to not purchase gifts for Teta.
Behar, feeling the need to explain her side, pointed out, “You know what? You’re constantly saying, ‘I’m your boss, I’m your boss.’ Why would I give my boss a gift? You’re supposed to give me a [gift].” The banter between the two highlighted the friendly dynamics at work on the show.
But Teta explained that he once read that Ellen DeGeneres gave her executive producer on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which ran for 19 seasons between 2003 and 2023, a Ferrari “or some kind of really expensive sports car.”
“So, I was just like, ‘Oh, it would be nice to get something,’” Teta added, before Behar quipped, “Boy, that bitch makes a lot of money. I want a raise!”
Teta has never been one to hold back with the ladies. On Wednesday’s (June 11) episode of The View, the EP joked that he’s “looked into” getting a restraining order against Behar — and on the May 29 episode of the long-running daytime talk show, he shared why he didn’t think AI could replace his job as executive producer.
“I figured mine was pretty fine because what computer could handle you guys?” he playfully asked the Hot Topics panel at the time, to which Whoopi Goldberg snapped, “You work an hour a day! What are you talking about?”
Behar then joked, “But that is some hour.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
