Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are apparently keeping it traditional in their home.
During a recent episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa shared an interesting household tip involving their vegetable crisper. She explained that they line it with paper towels to avoid any potential mess, a practice that apparently surprised Consuelos.
“Who does?” he asked, as Ripa replied, “We do.”
Consuelos, caught off guard, responded with a puzzled “We do?” before both of them shared a moment of laughter. He then humorously confessed that he is not typically the one to venture into the vegetable crisper, setting the stage for Ripa to playfully poke fun at her husband and co-host.
Ripa jokingly portrayed Consuelos as someone oblivious to the workings of their kitchen, likening his obliviousness to how Santa Claus magically delivers presents. She described a scenario where Mark would casually make his way downstairs in his pajamas, discovering the food as if by magic, leading to a humorous exchange between the two. Additionally, she teased him about his apparent lack of experience with air-fried food, suggesting that most of the food in their household is prepared in that manner.
On the importance of cleaning your fridge, Consuelos said he focuses on “the little shelf where the milk cartons and the half and half go on,” which Ripa attributed to him working in a grocery store in high school.
Consuelos explained that the cartons “sometimes leak.” After knowingly asking Consuelos if that’s where he “clean[s] the fridge,” Ripa quipped, “No, we definitely, like, a sexist division of labors in the house.”
Consuelos agreed, “It’s very 1950s.”
While Ripa said she “hate[s] to say that,” she and Consuelos noted how his responsibilities include taking out the garbage and shoveling the snow.
“I watch the landscapers do the lawn,” he joked, highlighting how he “mowed lawns as a kid” and “swore” that once he began making money, he “would never do that again.”
Ripa teased, “And you’ve really held up to your end of the bargain.”
However, Consuelos gushed that he “love[s his] leaf blower” and he power washes in addition to making little fixes around their home. In fact, Ripa said that Consuelos has “morphed into his father.”
“He fixes everything with toothpicks,” she added. “And if we’re at a restaurant and, you know, the table is jiggly, and the waiter comes over with, like, a book of matches to make the table straight, Mark is down there straightening the table with, I — I don’t even know what he is down there doing, but the table has never been as straight as when Mark has straightened it out.”
