Mark Consuelos was not going to flirt his way out of this holiday decoration discussion!
This morning on the show Live with Kelly and Mark, Consuelos joked about not being able to locate his home due to the abundance of Christmas decorations that Kelly Ripa had put up.
Following a slight glare from Ripa, he clarified, “Beautiful Christmas decorations! That I love so much. You’ve done such a nice job. I hardly could find my front door.”
After Consuelos acknowledged that he does in fact “like it very much,” Ripa asked, “You’re not trying to yuck my yum?”
Consuelos shared that “there’s talk” of an addition, which Ripa claimed is “just one small thing.”
“Just one eight-foot snowman,” she deadpanned.
“You ever hear of the term ‘gilding the lily’?” Consuelos asked.
Ripa confirmed that she’d heard the phrase, but “hate[s]” it because she doesn’t know what it means.
“But you use it with me all the time,” she added.
Consuelos explained, “The lily, it’s a beautiful flower… if you gild it… it doesn’t need it. It’s just beautiful the way it is. Kind of like you.”
As the audience erupted into “awws,” Ripa quickly hushed their swooning.
“Don’t fall for that BS,” she quipped. “You would not survive Mark Consuelos 101. That is BS.”
With a smug chuckle, Consuelos confessed, “That’s the weave. I just gave you the weave.”
Ripa assured Consuelos that she “will take the snowman away” if he does not like it, and noted that the reasoning for the snowman came from her desire to “soften” the look of their construction on their neighbor’s home.
“It’s not unsightly. It’s just obviously a construction site,” she added. “So I thought the snowman might block some of the construction.”
She also highlighted that she “gave in” to Consuelos’ wishes and “did not decorate the house for Halloween.”
“So this is a give and take. Marriage is a give and take,” she said. “I didn’t try to flimflam you by telling you how handsome you are. We already know that. I didn’t have to flimflam you.”
