During a recent appearance on The View, Kerry Washington found herself being censored while enthusiastically discussing the attractive men she had cast in her upcoming action movie, Shadow Force. The actress did not hold back when revealing how she and her co-stars, Omar Sy and Method Man, were bewitched by the charm of their fellow actors.
Together with the hosts of The View, Washington openly expressed her admiration for Omar Sy and Method Man, both of whom star alongside her in Shadow Force. The actors acknowledged the praise with humility, with Washington especially commending Method Man for his performance as a spy in the film.
Sunny Hostin did not mince her words when she slyly asked Washington, “Why is Method Man aging like a fine wine?”
Sharing the sentiment, Washington emphatically praised Method Man’s talents, declaring, “He’s incredible. He gets more and more handsome and he’s so good in this film.” When asked if she was starstruck by working with Method Man, Washington excitedly recounted how surreal the experience was, saying, “If you told my 14-year-old self that I would be in a film with Method Man and I got to tell him to F off, I would be like no way, no way!”
Washington’s comment was censored on the air, despite the fact that she did not appear to swear on the show.
However, Joy Behar caught the comment as she threw it to commercial. “She’s a spunky one, that one,” she said of Washington.
Washington is a producer for the new spy thriller. Shadow Force, which is playing now in theaters, stars Washington and Sy as a separated couple who must go on the run with their son when a unit of shadow agents set out to kill them.
Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Mark Strong also star in the film.
As a producer on the film, Washington explained on The View that a lot of thought went into which actor should play her romantic interest and co-lead in the film, which she said was an “exciting” part of the process.
The actress admitted that it was a joint decision between her and her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, to approach Sy with the role. She also shared the “embarrassing” story of how she got him to agree: By sliding into his DMs.
“With my husband’s permission!” she added.
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
