Kim Kardashian Acknowledges North West Is Not a Singer While Defending Her Participation in Lion King Performance Alongside Broadway Stars

Kim Kardashian recently addressed criticism regarding her daughter North West’s singing abilities on The Kardashians. Despite negative comments from trolls, Kim confessed that North is ‘not a singer,’ following North’s performance in the Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl last May.

North, who is the 11-year-old daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, appeared as Simba and sang “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” in a live Disney production of the classic 1994 animated film.

In a new episode of The Kardashians on Hulu, viewers get a sneak peek behind the scenes of the production. Kim shared that North had been rehearsing with a vocal coach and had just four days to prepare before the show.

They showed part of the rehearsals with Kim watching North go through the whole  performance, before she admits in confession, ‘I already know what’s coming.’

‘That she’s not Whitney Houston, duh. That she got the job because of her parents. North is the moment, they wanna see North West on a TikTok, on a this, on anything, because she’s a personality, a performer,’ Kim continued.

She added, ‘And if anyone wants to hate on a child having the time of their lives, f**k you.’

Kim Kardashian admitted her daughter North West is not a singer on The Kardashians, after many fans bashed her daughter North West’s performance at the Hollywood Bowl last May.

The 44-year-old’s oldest child with ex-husband Kanye West , 11-year-old North, landed the coveted role of Simba singing I Just Can’t Wait To Be King for The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl, a live Disney production of the 1994 animated hit

Before the performance, Kim was in glam for a photoshoot when she called Khloe to tell her that North was offered this role, which Khloe said was ‘amazing.’

Khloe asked if North was going to do it or not, but Kim, acting as a new ‘momager’ for her daughter like their mother before her, Kris Jenner, wasn’t sure quite yet.

‘I just can’t decide,’ Kim said, as Khloe added, ‘You just want to make sure that you can set her up for success, because the world is just like mean.’

‘That’s what I’m worried about,’ Kim said, as Khloe asked, ‘Can she sing Broadway?’

Kim added in confession, ‘I’m really torn on if I should let her do this or not. North is very comfortable performing, but she’s not a singer, you know, she raps. I mean, she’s been on a stage with her dad, for sure, but as a mom, especially putting her child on a platform for a lot of opinions, it’s something to really, really, really think about.’

Kim tells Khloe that she talked to North’s dad – Kanye West, and he told her, ‘It sounds cool,’ adding in confession that they had a ‘family discussion about it, and right away she was like, “Please mom, I wanna do it.”‘

Kim told her, ‘This is at the Hollywood Bowl. You’ve been there, you’ve seen your dad perform there, but this is a whole other production.’

Khloe told Kim that it was ‘so major’ that North was even asked to do this in the first place,’ but Kim insists, ‘I really wasn’t planning on being a momager for another 10 years.’

She added in confession she still has, ’10 years of work’ she wants to do before seemingly fully committing herself to managing her children’s careers, though she did insist to Khloe that she wouldn’t take 10% like Kris does.

The performance at the Bowl was also quite special because North’s first ever concert was at the Hollywood Bowl, watching her father, Kanye West. 

‘To see, a decade later, the roles reversed in the same dressing room, it’s just like so surreal for me. Life is crazy,’ Kim says in confession.

Most of the family came out for the performance, including Khloe Kardashian, her daughter True, Kylie Jenner’s daughter Stormi, Kim’s daughter Chicago and Kris Jenner, who all hopped in a car to head to the Hollywood Bowl.

Kourtney Kardashian and her husband Travis Barker also arrived, along with North’s father Kanye in a rare appearance on the Hulu series.

‘Kanye and I want the best for the kids, so anytime we’re here supporting our child, it’s always good vibes,’ Kim says in confession as they all say a prayer for North.

They show the whole performance and the family’s reactions to North’s big stage debut, before Kim bashes the haters yet again. 

‘She’s so proud of herself. She did such a great job, and anyone that’s hating on a kid is just like, eh, I hate her, and she’s not there to be like Mariah Carey,’ Kim said in confession.

The whole family is seen heading down a stairwell as Kim asked Kanye what he thought of North’s performance, and he said, ‘It was so good.’

One social media user penned, ‘She looks great and it seems like she’s having a lot of fun, but I’m definitely not gonna bypass the fact that we all know she wouldn’t be there if it wasn’t who her parents were. This is classism at its finest!’

‘Nepotism is so crazy lol,’ one wrote. ‘Someone else’s more talented, probably voice and dance trained kid didn’t get it because his/her family isn’t famous enough’

One typed out on the platform, ‘Nepotism is literally the best thing to be born with,’ while another added, ‘The worst case of nepo I have witnessed’

While the family was certainly proud of North, many detractors online didn’t feel the same way.
