Kraven the Hunter is coming to digital platforms, one month after the movie bombed in theaters.
J.C. Chandor directs Kraven the Hunter, featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. This Sony-produced Marvel movie revolves around a character from the Spider-Man universe. Sony created this film to maintain its Spider-Man license. It’s a classic case of capitalism driving innovation.
For those unfamiliar with the storyline, Kraven, portrayed by Taylor-Johnson, is a notorious villain in the Spider-Man comics. The movie delves into Kraven’s origins after a lion attack during his childhood. He receives a healing serum that leads to animalistic traits. Initially, Kraven attempts to utilize his abilities for good intentions. However, as demonstrated in Wicked, good deeds don’t always yield positive outcomes.
Similar to other Marvel projects from Sony, Kraven the Hunter faced harsh criticism from reviewers and underperformed at the box office, raking in less than $60 million worldwide against a $110 million production cost. There’s a glimmer of hope for the movie’s success in the realm of home entertainment.
But before you spend $25 to watch the Kraven the Hunter movie on digital, you should know that Kraven the Hunter will likely be streaming on Netflix in a few month’s time.
Beginning on Tuesday, January 14 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also Monday, January 13 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time) Kraven the Hunter will be available to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Vudu, and more.
The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie will cost $19.99 to rent, and $24.99 to buy. If you rent the movie, you will have a 48-hour window to watch it after you hit “play.”
Kraven the Hunter will also release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD on March 4, 2025. Both the digital and physical release will include special features, including deleted and extended scenes, a blooper reel, “Becoming Kraven,” “Beast Mode: The Stunts of the Hunt,” “Kraven’s First Hunt: The Direction,” and “Allies & Antagonists: The Killer Cast.”
Kraven the Hunter is not currently streaming free on any of the subscription-based streaming services. However, if you don’t want to pay to buy or rent the movie, we do expect to see Kraven the Hunter streaming on Netflix in the near future.
Kraven the Hunter will likely be on Netflix in the next few months. Netflix has a deal with Sony Pictures that gives the streamer the rights to the Sony movies in the “Pay 1” window, meaning the first streaming window after the film’s home media release. Other recent Sony movies, including Harold and the Purple Crayon and It Ends With Us, came to Netflix about four months after opening in theaters.
If Kraven the Hunter follows this same release pattern, you can expect Kraven the Hunter to stream on Netflix around April 2025, aka four months after the movie opened in theaters in December 2024. It will be free to stream for anyone with a Netflix subscription.
In the meantime, you can watch the Kraven the Hunter movie online by buying or renting the movie on digital platforms.
