Things took a dramatic turn in the latest episode of Below Deck Down Under. Chief stew Lara Rigby shared her insights during her appearance at the Bravo Clubhouse following the episode.
The incident involved sous chef Alesia Harris mistakenly climbing into bosun Wihan Du Toit’s bed, believing it was deckhand Johnny Arvanitis after a crew night out. The confusion only cleared when Arvanitis entered the room. The tension escalated as Arvanitis punched the cabin wall in frustration.
Rigby, on Watch What Happens Live, acknowledged Harris had been intoxicated during the mix-up. She questioned Harris’s choice to climb into the top bunk when she knew Arvanitis typically slept in the bottom bunk.
“That’s a great question. I was very confused as well,” she told host Andy Cohen.
The chief stew didn’t know much about the situation when it went down in real-time.
“I was told that she was very confused, it was a complete mistake,” Rigby recalled. “When I saw her, she was eating Pringles in bed and just chilling. I’m like, ‘Uh, did that just happen?’ And she was completely oblivious. That’s all I kind of really heard from it.”
When she watched the scene back, she said she was “shocked — mainly because of Wihan.”
“He knew it was her. He almost invited her in,” Rigby added, to which Cohen replied, “He was confused but on the other hand he was like, ‘Oh, here. Let’s snuggle.’ He did the grab, right?”
Even Below Deck Mediterranean alum Mzi Dempers thought Du Toit “knew exactly what he was doing” when he pulled Harris in for some spooning action.
As for what Rigby thought about Arvanitis’ violent reaction to the ordeal, she said, “I could see it boiling up in him. He knew something was kind of brewing anyway. Obviously, that’s no way to react but I can see in that environment.”
Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
